Screenshots from a Live Obsessum Performance
Obsessum is a Max for Live device that transforms your images and video files into an audio-reactive visual performance. It detects amplitude peaks in your music and translates each one into a slide change or a video effect trigger.
You can work in random or manual mode, and all parameters are MIDI-mappable, making Obsessum perfect for live performance. Use it as a visual-music instrument: improvise by applying video effects in real time, reveal specific images at key musical moments, or blend automatic and manual modes to co-create with the technology.
Obsessum also supports automation in Ableton Live, allowing you to design and render an official music video for your composition. Simply load a folder of .png and/or .mp4 files, and you’re ready to perform or produce.
And when you want to expand your setup, you can send your visuals from Ableton Live to any Syphon-compatible software for further mixing, projection mapping, or integration into larger visual environments.
Audio-Reactive Mode: Trigger image, movie, or video effect changes with amplitude peaks.
Adjustable Threshold: Fine-tune the sensitivity of audio reactivity to match your mix.
Slide & Effect Switching: Switch between images, video files, or visual effects in real time.
Random & Manual Modes: Let Obsessum shuffle visuals automatically, or take full control yourself.
MIDI-Mappable Controls: Map every parameter for expressive, hands-on performance.
Automation Ready: Use Ableton Live’s automation to design complete music videos.
Syphon Output: Send visuals from Ableton Live to any Syphon-compatible software.
Simple Media Loading: Drop in a folder of .png and/or .mp4 files — and you’re ready to perform instantly.
"Through a cortical crown of sensors, Obsessum reached the amygdala’s shadows, where flashbacks were born. Obsessive storms were decoded, translated into light, and cast onto the screen. There, before his eyes, the memories of trauma unraveled— and in their disappearance, hope appeared." SC
